New #nationwide logo seems quite similar to the existing #NatWest logo. Just saying. Could be tricky if used on small app icons.

Very helpful article on WCAG 2.2 from Craig Abbott. It also highlights where proper use of the GOV Design System should help meet some of the new criteria.

Yesterday we got #WCAG 2.2 and 9 new criteria. Under the Public Sector Bodies #Accessibility Regulations, you need to work to the latest version to be compliant, so I've written a blog post on what #WCAG22 might mean for you! #a11y https://t.co/idcNYVOUok

4. When I got through, the person who replied was very helpful. You have good people but the phone service does not match. My need was not great but some callers will be in great need and these issues could prevent them from accessing your services.

3. The wait time was quite long for an emergency line. Please try to respond within, say, 2 mins and tell callers the expected wait time.

2. The only number available is a UK landline that doesn't work with WhatsApp. Given that callers will mostly be abroad, calling a UK number is tricky and/or expensive. Please add some way to contact that is not just a UK landline.

I finished my contract with the Accessibility Team at @DefraGovUK yesterday. Thanks to all the lovely people at Defra for all their help. I'm hoping to be joining another accessibility team after taking some needed leave.

Anyone having a BBQ today, stick ambient ScotRail beats on in the background and post a video and I'll love you forever. I'll let you decide if that's an incentive or a deterrent. I want to see you vibing to a supermarket trolley on the track. https://t.co/qfpUJOGE6q

Worth a read to understand that an app like this succeeds or fails depending on how the whole public health system works.

Canada's COVID Alert exposure notification service was retired last week. There's some learning from the experience that I think gets lost in some of the other conversations. (Spoiler alert: contra others' takes, it had little to do with user adoption.)

Having thought for years that the UX for supermarket self scan could be improved by adding more barcodes I find @LidlGB are doing it on several of their products. You just wave it and it's more likely to scan. Brilliant.

Testing your product for #accessibility yourself will *never* compare with testing with real users. This week we conducted 5 usability interviews with frequent screen reader users. Here are some things I observed: (a thread) 🧵👇

This is good news but £440k over 2 years for audits is maybe about 30 websites a year. Each government department has hundreds of sites. This isn't the only money being spent on audits in government but we probably will have to spend a lot more than this.

Today's blog post is about something I've thought for decades but only got around to writing about today: "All projects (and services) start in the middle" tl;dr - in reality, we always start with "live" https://t.co/vv3nP1cZjG

The idea that "new" projects and services start at the beginning is a myth. There is always work that has gone before.
