Had to cancel my BitSummit plans cause I was feeling sick. It turns out I had multiple-infection pneumonia. Currently in hospital recovering. Hope to catch up with what I missed later!

I try not to post "real life" stuff but a few days ago I was asked to give a guest talk about movies to a class of 4th graders. I showed clips of Brakhage, Warhol, Painlevé, etc. I explained how cinema is defined by us and that movies can be made with basic materials.

One of the weirdest things about Videogame History is that First Person Shooters evolved out of Immersive Sims and not the other way around.

Game I made for the most recent GGJ theme: "Make me laugh" It's a multiplayer twin-stick game about two giant Face-Ships battling it out in space! As you move the analog sticks, your Face-Ship will stretch and pull to crazy proportions. Stretching affects bullet size and dodging.

Good example of situations where dynamic/simple lighting could be preferable to baked imo
I was looking at old screenshots of Rust Valley and I think I may have accidentally been "improving" certain things for the worse? I think I made the baked lighting too realistic (right) and the original (left) harsh/simpler lighting is more period and aesthetically appropriate?

The Quick and the Dead is such a beautiful cinematic oddity because literally where else are you gonna find a scene of Leonardo DiCaprio and Gene Hackman being dolly zoomed to high heaven. No seriously, where.
