Amongst the associated genes, MCL1 looked like a very interesting target and - given its known anti-apoptotic function - our colleagues designed an in vivo assay to check for fibrotic cell-specific effects but could not detect any large effects. Further ideas & analyses needed

Fantastic collaboration between @Boehringer & @GenomicsEngland colleagues to identify novel variants and genes associated with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) risk. Hopefully at least one will turn out to be a good drug target for IPF and/or related diseases!.#IPF.
