@nikitabier Privacy should be optional for the user, not something the platform decides for them. Even a regional hint can endanger activists, journalists and dissidents. If you truly understood the risks activists face, this feature wouldn’t ship like this. A toggle won’t protect everyone.

X’s decision to disclose users’ locations shows a total disregard for privacy and safety. This change has put refugees who are stranded in unsafe countries at risk. The feature was introduced with little notice and without any guidance for vulnerable users. Any potential benefit

From my interview with Eli Lake (before U.S. entered the war): Mehdi Yahyanejad, a well-known Iranian American democracy activist who works on defeating the regime’s internet censorship, said Trump’s recent warnings to Khamenei have changed the dynamics on the ground in Iran.

The Iranian regime’s pursuit of nukes cost Iran nearly $2 trillion in economic damage. Now, its nuclear program is crippled, proxies weakened, missiles destroyed. All that’s left are armed thugs on Iran’s streets; clinging to power with nothing left to offer.

I spoke on @mdubowitz’s podcast about how AI can be used to help people in Iran coordinate more effectively against the regime. There’s a lot we can learn from how U.S. presidential campaigns mobilize volunteers. Lessons that can be adapted to organize large-scale protests and

The direct Starlink to cell service is going to be a game changer for connectivity in remote places. Also, the hope is that it can overcome legal and technical hurdles and become available in countries with heavy censorship (my interview in Persian). https://t.co/xWZK6rSYez

It's all good and well that you can run DeepSeek R1 locally, but you still won't escape its CCP programming constraints. This is straight out of Robocop! Wouldn't install this model on your new Tesla humanoid power droid in case of a conflict over Taiwan!

@mattyglesias My recommendations would be: 1- Charge a $3000 application fee to stop the application spamming by companies similar to Tata Consulting or completely ban the consulting companies from bringing H1b employees. 2- Increase the salary requirement to 30% more than the average

I have experienced firsthand the challenges posed by the limitations of H1B visas in the startup and nonprofit sectors. We simply don't have enough qualified engineers in the US to keep us competitive. The need for H1b visas is even more acute for startups and nonprofits who

At the NUFDI conference, I argued for a fresh approach to harnessing technology for change in Iran. Iranian dissidents have been urging protests on social media with little success. We need to build new tools to help people organize and mobilize. https://t.co/92BMZmOjwy
