if you want to honor Alice Wong's legacy, here's her project, Crips For eSims in Gaza. Telecommunications networks are still under attack, even after the ceasefire, and there is a real need for eSims.
chuffed.org
Crips for eSims for Gaza is a collaboration between Jane Shi, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, and Alice Wong.ย

So everyone talking about the gutting of public health is going to start masking, right?

The social cost of masking can be high, but the cost of not masking can be astronomically higher. I'd rather protect myself and not spread disease than hang out with people who ultimately won't be there when something happens to me. Who will minimize, ignore, and abandon.

If you mask sometimes, but happily take risks unmasked indoors in public, now would be a good time to get more consistent wearing a mask. We're in a surge. Lots of people are getting sick. Vaccines are harder to access. Please adapt to the situation.

"We have the tools." A lot of people don't have access to most covid mitigations. Sick, vulnerable people are denied Paxlovid. Nosocomial infections happen constantly while HCWs refuse to mask for a few minutes & laugh at immunocompromised people asking for simple precautions.

Please read this, especially if youโre an educator that has abandoned covid protections for yourself & your students
This is a great piece about Leslie Lee, and some VERY important insight into how to stay safer from COVID from @AdamUmak. https://t.co/DgNuPGvVU7

Alice Wong helped me accept my disabilities. She taught me thereโs no social justice without disability justice. She encouraged me to start The Disabled Ginger and was a friend & mentor. She wonโt be forgotten. Donโt let the bastards grind you down: https://t.co/KDX4MwOPo8

Alice Wong has passed away and the disability community has lost a leader. I lost a mentor and a friend. The Disabled Ginger wouldn't exist without Alice and everything she taught me.

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people donโt just leave memories behindโthey leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collective survival. She named the connective tissue that holds us together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast & often.

"I mask when I'm sick" By the time you "feel" sick, if you ever do, you've already been infectious for days. The virus is not coughing and sneezing, that's your body trying to expel the virus.
normie i live with is symptomatic again in summer 2025. whining about his man "cold" but won't mask or test for c19. has plans to be out & about all weekend. these are the ppl yall just pass by but point to as proof ppl aren't getting covid anymore. bc he doesn't look sick

RIP, Alice. @SFdirewolf Alice was not only an oracle. Alice was a force. If you are able, please consider contributing to the GoFund set up to continue Aliceโs vital work.

The worst part is the average citizen doesnโt even realize they SHOULD be taking Covid that seriously because the CDC and both administrations have made sure they donโt so the airlines donโt have tempted tantrums when they canโt pack their flights. Fight the system, wear a mask.

give people their flowers while they're still here. support their work. contribute to their mutual aid. tell them how you feel. thank them for inspiring you. show up for them the way they show up for you. because it could truly be anyone at any moment.

So many deaths of our disabled loved ones could have been prevented and/or their final days could have been in comfort with support. This drives much of my work, to publish and share our stories, to document our wisdom, to leave something behind for future generations
My deepest condolences to all of you in the disability advocacy community on here who lost another friend โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
