Genetic testing w small pieces (SNP's) of the gene shouldn't be used to detect pathogenic variants (PV) in cancer genes due to high false pos's (called PV when gene is normal) & high false neg's (called normal when gene has PV). Companies that analyze entire genes should be used.
The study emphasizes the need for confirmatory clinical testing & consultation with a #healthcare provider to avoid unnecessary, unwarranted invasive medical procedures. ALL #DTC testing should be #doublechecked before health decisions are made. More here

“A couple that grafts together, laughs together” (sorry, Anne). You and Ziv’s work is transformational. Looking forward to offer to my patients in Chicago very soon.
Today we are celebrating our 100th #TeamPeled #sensationpreservingmastectomy! It feels amazing be able to consistently offer patients an option I didn’t have when I was diagnosed myself over 2 years ago. I love getting to work with my husband @PeledMigraine & our PA Nicole.
