Our lab's initial foray into DNA damage tolerance in Drosophila was published in PLoS Genetics yesterday. A true team effort, with lots of surprises. One highlight: REV1 catalytic activity deals with alkylation damage, but only if pol zeta is missing!

Congratulations to Alyssa Persano and her IRACDA postdoctoral mentor Sara Martin for a successful defense of her senior honors thesis! Her surprising and striking results have made us question many of our lab’s prior assumptions about how base excision repair works in flies.
