It is genuinely so fucked that I did not know I could be perceived as white. It fills me with horror realizing that I wasn't able to recognize the full scope of my privileges until just a couple years ago.

I grew up identifying as black & mixed bc thats what I was told to do by my white side of my family & my schools. Mixed race wasn't officially recognized in the US until just a couple years ago. After this post, I was shocked to find out there were ppl who perceived me as white.
