Competing demands are a barrier to effective communication with ventilated ICU patients. Ask patients (who are able) to prepare messages ahead. Involve SLPs and other team members. Nurses who are proficient in using AAC say that it “saves time.” @osunursing #SPEACS2 #NTI2021
