Working on this story this week, I immediately realized the last names and evident culture of the families. Being Mexican American, it hits close to home.

intern, in partnership with my upcoming NBC News internship 🗞️This organization is dedicated to increasing diversity in the media industry, which is an initiative that is very important to me.
I wrote about the ongoing water crisis in Jackson, MS and how the town has been facing years of neglect and a lack of investment in their water infrastructure system. It was another example of environmental racism.
This was a VERY difficult decision to make, however, it was one we had to make. I will never forget the feeling of seeing the print newspapers in the stands around campus. But, "As we bid farewell to the past, we can look forward with bated breath to the future."
Now, in 2021, we must change in order to serve our campus community for another 60 years to come. Due to challenges brought on by the pandemic and the shifting business of journalism, The Statesman will stop producing its weekly newspaper version
I am excited to announce that I will be interning with the Council on Foreign Relations as a Global Communications and Media Relations Intern this summer! I have developed a passion for social justice and CFR focuses on a lot of important social issues that matter.
Thank you
@NAHJ
for sending this package of goodies in preparation for the NAHJ 2021 Conference! I can’t wait to be immersed in a week of learning, networking and journalism. Also looking forward to see the work that the Student Project will produce!
