Was talking to Bill Vollmann on the phone about Moresco’s THE BEGINNINGS, read him a paragraph, and explained how the whole thing is just Tolstoyan defamiliarization turned up to 11, to which he responded “Sounds like Platonov would be jealous!” Ideal tagline for the book.

SCHATTENFROH is for EVERYONE. It’s about family and history and metaphysics and authoritarianism. It’s not a “bro book” in the slightest. Please don’t think it’s not for you because of memes or whatever else :) Give it a spin and I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
