We offer new insights into how and why romantic partners resemble each other, reshaping theories on relationship dynamics. Our innovative research design could be used to study other variables (e.g., values) to shed light on why some couples grow closer while others drift apart.

Very happy to see this out now in JPSP! We used 5 datasets (N = 128K) to do a deep dive into within-person variability for long-term personality development, a metric common in short-term dynamics work but (sadly!) pretty disregarded longitudinally (1/8) https://t.co/GpdAT5QJZ4

📣New preprint! @ReitzAnne, @JoranJongerling and I studied across 4⃣ experience sampling waves how momentary self-esteem (morning/evening self-esteem) links to social interaction quality and anticipation within days. We also assessed if trait self-esteem plays a role.
