Why exactly is it cold during cold extremes? In this paper just out in @theAGU's Geophysical Research Letters, Lukas Papritz and I provide a global and quantitative answer.

It did take computing a fair amount of air parcel trajectories, but now our paper on the regionally varying mix of physical process that shape heat extremes across the globe is finally out in @NatureGeosci!
