I swear, my next EQ lesson is going to be about asking the Elders Quorum to help you move and the rules around it. 1: the EQ is NOT your first option as a moving company. Your family and friends are #1. 2. If you do need to ask us, give more than 12 hours notice. Preferably a

This explanation would fly if the top leaders acted like this. Their unwillingness to acknowledge and apologize for their human errors continues to prop up this idea that they are infallible.

@matthewallen @DavidMurdochArt @floodlitorg For every child who has ever been abused by a bishop, there are tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands who have been abused by someone in the school system. Only morons focus on the small and ignore the large.

Dude thinks it is way too expensive for a 250b dollar church to have windows in every classroom door. Mandatory background checks like they have in the uk? Way too expensive. Your kids being abused are “acceptable risks” to this guy. 😬😬😬.

Dude is calling kids who get abused by their bishops an “acceptable risk”. This is the shit that members have to deal with when demanding that the church do more to protect children. This shit.

@Jenn_NextDoor @matthewallen @DavidMurdochArt @floodlitorg It’s called an “acceptable risk” because the benefits outweigh the risks as a whole. You’re acting like there are zero cases of abuse in schools whereas the odds that a child would get abused is hundreds if not thousands of times greater per capita in a school than by a bishop.

Yep. You have to grapple with the fact that Joseph lied about this. Even worse, you need to wonder what else he lied about. We already know how important honesty was to him when dealing with his wife. (It wasn’t.).

The Book of Abraham facsimiles are just common funery texts. Not Abraham. There is no debate about it. You have to deal with the fact Joseph didn’t know how to translate Egyptian. Even the church admits it. Stop pretending like you know more than Egyptologists.

I’m curious how widespread this might be. Anyone else’s bishop insist that another trusted adult be there for interviews with teens? Mine asks, but doesn’t insist.

@matthewallen It should be mandatory. My bishop follows it in pretty sure, I’ve seen it in action. I’ll have to ask him and circle back.

One on one “worthiness” interviews, with minors needs to end. Sam Young fought for this, the church kicked him out then quietly made it so a parent could sit in. It should no longer be optional. Another adult must be in the room as well. Enough is enough.

💯 it’s hilarious when members get all serious and go on and on about obeying the laws of the land. If that were true, leaders would be facing discipline from their stakes for financial scandals. Members would be calling for them to resign. Hypocrisy would not be tolerated.

always interesting to see when the church is willing to comply with the law (ethnic cleansing) and when it’s not (being honest about its stock holdings). when it’s willing to use its political capital (mobilizing against gay marriage) and when it’s not (opposing mass deportation).
