Very cool moment between Andrew Wylie and Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs postgame locker room. Worth it to see the look on Wylie’s face. That’s a moment between teammates. Patrick can even make his friends speechless at times.
First news story I remember writing came when I was 9 years old. I "assigned" myself to cover Super Bowl XV, taking notes during the game and writing a recap I delivered to my family.
Today I'm covering my first Super Bowl in person and missing my mom who made it all possible.
Bills center Mitch Morse hunted down Andy Reid at midfield to give him a hug and congratulate him. Congratulated Chris Jones and other staff members. That's the kind of guy Morse is.
After Allegretti viciously spikes the football, watch Jerick McKinnon chase the football down to make sure the keepsake is not lost. That’s a teammate there, and one who appreciates what moments like that mean.
Andy Reid on whether he considered letting the Raiders score to save time for offense:
"I've got Pat Mahomes. Give me a minute and a half and I'm good."
Patrick Mahomes on Alex Smith playing today: "It's amazing. It really is amazing for him to get through what he went through and get back on the field ... he's a special human being."
Incredible day for Chiefs OL Nick Allegretti. His wife Christina gave birth to twins about 4 a.m. Sunday morning, and he finished the day with his second Super Bowl ring. “Best day of my life no matter what.”
Patrick Mahomes said he didn't know Tyreek Hill actually caught that touchdown until after the replay. Says he told Hill: "You're so good at receiver you don't even know when you catch touchdowns these days."
The Chiefs lost to the Titans in 2019 and proceeded to win their next 13 games.
The Chiefs lost to the Titans and Week 7, and have won eight in a row. A 13-game winning streak would end in Super Bowl LVI.
Andy Reid says Patrick Mahomes asked him to do the State Farm ad. Said he had a lot of fun doing it and learned a lot about how other people treat Mahomes in those settings.
Patrick Mahomes checked to "Rolex" on the last touchdown to Tyreek Hill. What is "Rolex?"
"If I told you, I'd have to make you disappear," Andy Reid says.
Arrowhead Stadium scoreboard currently showing highlights of the many times Philip Rivers got destroyed in his career against the Chiefs, including the kneel down fumble. Savage.
Andy Reid says the Chiefs will take punt return duties off of Skyy Moore's plate. Adds that Moore was crushed by the muff but Reid was impressed with how he handle it and his play on offense.
Andy Reid says there was "no doubt" about going for it on fourth down on the final drive. Says there was complete agreement on the sideline. "There's no tomorrow, let's go."

Tyrann Mathieu has won the fan voting for the Nationwide Charity Challenge contest attached to the NFL Man of the Year program. That means a $25,000 donation to the Tyrann Mathieu Foundation. He's the second-straight Chiefs player to win the contest after Travis Kelce last year.
Andy Reid with sage advice for Chiefs fans (and football fans) on watching Mahomes & Kelce:
"We're a part of it, and that's the fun part. You'd like it to last forever but these guys grow old, and you know it's not. So what I do is I try to enjoy every minute of it, every play."
Not entirely sure Justin Tucker would be trying to warmup in that area of the field. Looks like some veterans playing head games with each other. Just not sure Mahomes and Kelce are two guys you want to bait before the game.
A nugget in this story I find notable. Mahomes — who remembers everything — notes this has happened three times in his career, all in Baltimore.
So Justin Tucker doesn’t have the fortitude to try this nonsense on the road. Mahomes will call somebody the wrong MFer anywhere.
Big news for the Chiefs defense: CB Bashaud Breeland has cleared concussion protocol and is no longer questionable for Sunday. He will start against Buffalo in AFC title game.

DE Frank Clark dealing fire in the locker room today:
"The Raiders got to come with it and every other team. I'm going to say that and keep saying it. I said my neck, a lot of that stuff is in the past now. They're getting some football from Frank Clark right now."
Cornerback Dicaprio Bootle, a practice squad elevation for today's game, led the Chiefs defense with eight total tackles. Frank Clark and Tershawn Wharton each picked up a sack.

TE Travis Kelce on this year's offense: "I think we're going to pass the ball. When you think we're going to run, we're going to pass. When you think we're going to pass, we're definitely going to pass." Patrick Mahomes next to him cracked up laughing.
10 of the 14 largest metropolitan areas in the United States were named as
#2026WorldCup
sites.
The 11th U.S site is Kansas City, No. 33 on the list, and is the smallest city of the 16 North American sites. A pretty amazing accomplishment for everyone involved!
Patrick Mahomes has an eye on the weather forecast in Denver for Sunday: 23 degrees for a high and a 60% chance of snow. Smiled as he says he's excited for a snow game.
Jason Kelce just flattened a defenseless Juan Thornhill on a pass play about 5 yards downfield. That's like three penalties in a single play and Carl's crew missed all of them.
Since the Chiefs lost to the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 10, 2019, they are 17-1 during the last 365 days including the regular and postseason. Their point differential is +243.
L’Jarius Sneed told me Steve Spagnuolo asked him on Monday if he was up for the challenging of traveling with DK Metcalf today and Sneed said he was ready for the challenge.
Metcalf after the game told Sneed he had a lot of respect for him.
Tommy Townsend finishes averaging 60.8 yards on four punts tonight. That's a new franchise record for the Chiefs for punting average in a game, and according to the
@pfref
database the second-best in NFL history with a minimum of four punts.

DE Terrell Suggs on joining the the club this week:
"At the end of the day it's just football. But it is really exciting to kind of join this team. The swagger that they're playing with and the confidence and the energy, that felt really good."
Eric Bieniemy tells us the name of the screen pass to Anthony Sherman for a TD vs Ravens is Smoked Sausage. He also said he had no idea Patrick Mahomes tossed the ball underhand -- wasn't part of the plan, just another Mahomes flourish.
Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed and all 52 of his teammates were full participants Friday. No one has a game-day injury designation.
This team is as healthy as you could hope to be for the final game of the season.
Chiefs have agreed to terms on a new contract for long snapper James Winchester, per source. Terms not yet available.
The ultra reliable Winchester, who hasn't missed a game in his career, will be back for season No. 10 in Kansas City.
Apparently no Ryan Fitzpatrick, but former Chief Tamba Hali will be the honorary drum leader Sunday. Four F/A-18 Hornets from Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va. will perform a flyover weather permitting. Jordan Smith from “The Voice” performing the national anthem.

head coach Andy Reid's daughter Crosby Reid will perform the national anthem before Sunday's game against the Chargers. A KC-135 Stratotanker from McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita will conduct a flyover, weather permitting.
Andy Reid on Byron Pringle's catch that put the Chiefs at the 3-yard line for the game-winning touchdown: "Pringle was about two inches away from getting a potato chip commercial, he was real close there."
Just realized it was one year ago this evening that the Chiefs officially announced they were hiring Steve Spagnuolo as defensive coordinator. A lot has happened since then.
If my name were Andy (Reid or Heck), after the Jawaan Taylor false start, I would be absolutely losing my (stuff) on the officiating crew watching Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown doing the exact same thing on every single pass play.
I can confirm DT Mike Pennel is returning to the Chiefs. He played a critical role for KC down the stretch and during the Super Bowl run.

had it first.
Most passing yards through first 50 NFL games:

Patrick Mahomes 410 yards, 3 TDs
Travis Kelce 10 catches, 191 yards, 2 TDs including the game winner
Tyreek Hill 12 catches, 148 yards, 1 TD
As Terez would say, an "over my dead body" game.
Little milestone for me today. This marks the first time this century my weight has started with the number 2. At one point about 12 years ago my weight started with the number 4. Hope I can keep this journey going.
Tyreek Hill says some of his

teammates are planning to come back to KC soon and start working on the field together throwing and catching passes. He hasn't run a route since the Super Bowl, but he's picked up yoga in the offseason to try and add explosiveness.
Chris Jones is absolutely on the active roster. He's under contract. There's not reserve list that players are moved to because they are holding out.
The Chiefs have 91 players on the roster due to an exemption for a International pathway player.
Facts aren't that hard.
As a holdout, Chris Jones is not on the active roster. The Chiefs nevertheless have put him on the unofficial depth chart, as a first-string defensive tackle.
Andy Reid says Eric Bieniemy is his right-hand man and sounds like he expects him to be a head coach next season. "I know he's not going to be here very long, but I'm going to enjoy every last minute."
In a departure from expectations this afternoon, Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed was on the field for some stretching and conditioning that would put him in the next stage of the concussion protocol, a very good sign for him.
Andy Reid says everybody is fired up to have L'Jarius Sneed back on the field this week and set to play vs. Steelers. "L'Jarius is in a good place and ready to go."
Donna Kelce just asked Roger Goodell what it would take to get him on the

present the Derrick Thomas Award for the team’s most valuable player to Travis Kelce. No surprise, very deserving after one of the best seasons ever by a tight end.
NFL Network will be re-airing the top 10 games of the year starting next Monday, and Chiefs appear in three of them:
No. 10: Chiefs-Ravens in Week 3
No. 5: Chiefs-Texans in AFC Divisional playoff
No. 1: Chiefs-49ers in Super Bowl LIV
Chiefs have granted WR Daurice Fountain his release from the practice squad, per source. He has interest from several teams looking for veteran help at receiver at midseason. Has been a great locker room presence in KC.
It doesn't matter if Alex Smith plays a single down this season. He's already clinched my vote for comeback player of the year for 2020. Probably should have won it in 2019 also simply for walking on the turf at FedEx Field last September.
Veach says that the biggest weakness of Patrick Mahomes is "he just wants to go out there and execute at a high level" and I'm totally stealing that line for my next job interview.
Mahomes says he tried to get up after the hit but had his legs go out from under him. He says he asked the trainers to keep him on the ground for a bit to give Chad Henne more time to warm up.
Final thought for Friday night: Brett Veach convinced the Ravens to send a Pro Bowl-caliber left tackle to their biggest competitor for the Lamar Hunt Trophy, and let him convert a third and fourth round pick into a second round pick.
Need Veach to negotiate my next job offer.
Travis Kelce is your AFC offensive player of the week for Week 15. Amazingly it’s the first time he’s won the player of the week, and he’s the first Chiefs tight end to win the honor. Last tight end to be player of the week was Rob Gronkowski in Week 15 of 2017.
Easy to see why Clark Hunt said the Arrowhead Stadium feature of the ring had significant meaning to him. Ring top removes as a pendant revealing Arrowhead and a quote from his father Lamar Hunt.
Clark Hunt says he can’t wait to see the players’ reaction when they open their ring boxes. He told me there’s a special element of the ring commemorating GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium that has significant meaning to him.
Le'Veon Bell says he's never had an easier touchdown than the one he got off the option pitch from Patrick Mahomes. Said he was able to walk into the end zone after Mahomes set the play up and with the blocking in front of him.
