Strong speech from @PollyBLabour on the need for coastal communities to get the support they need. Half the mission critical neighbourhoods we have identified at @iconeighbours are on the coast. We need to give places like Newington Estate we visited priority.

Thanks to @lukeakehurst for raising the work of @iconeighbours today in Westminster Hall and the work of Baroness Armstrong. He is right, the data is there. We know who needs support. We need policy to focus on neighbourhoods like Stanley in North Durham.

ICON’s Interim Report sets out the 613 mission critical neighbourhoods most at risk of not meeting the government’s 5 missions for national renewal. Without targeted interventions to these areas the government will fail to meet its promise of a decade of renewal.

Which parts of the country are furthest away from making a real contribution to the government's missions agenda? On all missions bar energy, "doubly disadvantaged" areas - those that are highly deprived, with low social infrastructure/social capital - are much further behind

Excellent roundtable this morning at the launch of the interim report for @iconeighbours. A lot of energy around getting government to think neighbourhoods as we have called for in our report. You can read the interim report here: https://t.co/6AraCMpHaB
