Obvs. this is not *really* about etymology (one of these words is said to be derived from the other, but no one is quite sure which). It is entirely about upholding white supremacy--bearing in mind that Slavic people are regarded as *honorary* whites outside of Eastern Europe.

When I was a schoolboy, a history teacher (!!) said in class that the word "Slav" was derived from "slave." I already knew better, so I complained to my Polish immigrant mother, who in turn complained to the principal. The only novelty here is the reference to white people.

In both cases, my mood went back to normal after my other symptoms cleared and I tested negative again. This is the first time I've heard of another person with a similar experience.

I've had Covid twice. Thankfully, I didn't get brain fog, but both times one of the early symptoms was a sudden mood change--I started feeling both angry and sad for no clear reason a couple of days before I tested positive (so it can't have been a response to the diagnosis).

The anti-racist response in the UK is heartwarming, but if the example of France is anything to go by, it won't be enough. The far right will continue to gain ground until something is done to stop it, and that certainly won't involve sending people to Rwanda.

...mine was raised speaking French, Portuguese (his father's language), Spanish and Arabic. If you are British or American from an English-speaking background, or French from a French-speaking background, then things are different and you can have a "first" language.
