ChatGpt offered this nugget. In short, we care about the standard form Ax + By = C because it’s a simple, powerful, and flexible way to represent linear relationships in both abstract math and real-world applications. I’m not buying it. Come.at me #mtbos #iteachmath. Tell me.

If linear functions are just first degree polynomials, then why is the standard form for lines different from standard forms for higher degree polynomials?. Why do we care about Ax + By = C? And why are we spending hours and hours of math class teaching it? . Asking for a friend.
