"It's a hierarchical blame game." @mathgeek76 I was just having this conversation with @kdykema yesterday. We need MORE vertical alignment conversations, MORE learning from our colleagues who teach different grade bands. More awareness that we're one stepping stone on the path.

ChatGpt offered this nugget. In short, we care about the standard form Ax + By = C because it’s a simple, powerful, and flexible way to represent linear relationships in both abstract math and real-world applications. I’m not buying it. Come at me #mtbos #iteachmath. Tell me.

If linear functions are just first degree polynomials, then why is the standard form for lines different from standard forms for higher degree polynomials? Why do we care about Ax + By = C? And why are we spending hours and hours of math class teaching it? Asking for a friend.
