This new decree, halting the training of new female healthcare workers, will result in unnecessary pain, misery, sickness, and death for the women forced to go without health care, as there won’t be female healthcare workers to treat them.

Did you know that 80% of school-aged girls in Afghanistan have lost their right to education under Taliban control? 📚💔 Let's come together to change this and empower their future! #EducationForAll #EmpowerGirls

The Taliban have BANNED women from studying in medical institutes in Afghanistan. This is femicide in action. By blocking women from becoming doctors and banning them from seeing male doctors, the Taliban are basically telling Afghan women to suffer and die without healthcare.

Every day, we wake up to another Taliban crackdown, another ban, another loss for our girls. How much more can we bear? Yet even as they cry, they sing, powerful testament to their resilience. We owe it to them to continue the fight and keep the hope alive ❤️‍🩹

Deadly new directive from Taliban leader (pictured) bans women’s health training leaving them w/out midwives or female health workers. Male doctors banned from treating women &female workers can’t be trained. This erases women’s access to healthcare & is a death sentence to women.

1173 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from school. 713 days since the Taliban banned women from going to university. Afghanistan is the only country in the world to deny education to women and girls in this way. #LetAfghanGirlsLearn

The Taliban has just banned Afghan women from attending nursing school. Imagine: you cannot pursue any education, even healthcare, because of the sole reason that you are a woman. We are witnessing the erasure of women in real-time. It is beyond horror.

Female students at a medical school in Afghanistan’s Kapisa province weep as a man announces that they are no longer allowed to continue their studies. The Taliban’s new order bans women from medical education, closing the last remaining institutions where women can learn.

On what is in some ways the hardest day of my year but in other ways the most positive, as we release the latest report from the @mbrrace confidential enquiries into maternal deaths and morbidity, it is important we recognise the families and friends of the women who have died

The latest @mbrrace report is out today and I am so glad to see that women with language difficulties are recognised. Communication barriers are unsafe, unfair and cause harm. Pleased that the advice given in the report mirrors what we advise in our guidance #MBRRACE2024
