Complex sunspots to the E & SE now moving into view and they have a history of big CMEs when on the far side. They will be geoeffective for the next week, will they flare or will they not, that is the question. If they do then possible aurora prospects in future. Credit: SOHO

Drone shot of the leading edge of the shelf/guster which passed near Cookstown and over Slieve Gallion this evening. Tops were too warm for thunder but the sky sure did look mean and dark leading up to this.

The big cell over Moneymore today which caused flash flooding, view of flanking region at 15mm wide on full frame as it moved E. A very potent cell despite the warm cloud tops.

The Moneymore cell with white core, had there been cold cloud tops and shear that would have been a great storm.

Impressive cell perched over moneymore area, place was flooded. I was shocked how big the updraughts were on it, literally solid and boiling across the zenith. Tops seem too warm for thunder still, but it was def surface based.

Hundreds of meteors flew over Northern Ireland as the Perseids returned over the night. While a full moon obscured visibility, some lucky observers got a dazzling view.

Perseid meteor watch last night 23.00 to 05.00. 62 Perseids observed. One borderline fireball. Don't know if I got any on camera yet, however I got a nice time lapse of the Jupiter-Venus conjunction which was beautiful. Home 05.30. #perseids.
