A council shuts a High St to cars, losing 15 or so parking spaces. Shops that relied on 'nipping in' trade lose it, so have to work harder or go bust. What are the consequences for the councillors who pushed it or can they just play real life Sim City with people's livelihoods?

Imagine the government making you leave your passport, keys, and bank cards in the street with no protection. Then threatening fines or shutting your business if you refuse. That is what Digital ID and One Login means for UK directors right now. Hand over your most sensitive
šØDigital ID Not Safe & Not Secure šØ š§µš Nearly $1 trillion per year is being spent on cybersecurity, yet data breaches are rising faster than ever, with 2025 already seeing record breaking levels compared to previous years. It is obvious data security is not working, even

āBad government ruins livesā. Yep. The only lives it doesnāt ruin are the politiciansā. They get to sail off, utterly unaccountable, into the sunset with a solid gold pension.
Down 8%. Expected to fall another 7% this year. Why? Not AI but "state of the economy." Bad governments ruin lives.

Remarkable that @OxfordshireCC can take a congestion tax from 'doesn't exist' to imposing it on the public in 20 weeks, yet they still won't allow motorcycles in bus lanes despite campaigning since 2011. Perhaps the stickers for the signs cost too much.

With OCC getting out the big speed limit hammer again, it's back to basics. What are speed limits for?

I don't think I've ever heard such sneering, contemptuous, uncaring, patrician arrogance as from Cllr Andrew Gant on @BBCOxford. He sounded as though he was actually enjoying hearing the little people struggling to comply with his and his activist council's compliance demands.

@Councillorsuzie They still donāt get it do they? āOur Labour government is funding thisā āThe Mayor of London is funding thisā Itās OUR money, not theirs. And they take more and more of it every day.

The only thing any UK politician - national or local - could do that would surprise me would be anything in the interests of the people forced to pay for them.
Parliament statement on digital ID Notice how it's gone from being needed "to stop the boats" to now being needed to access every aspect of your life "banks, health, childcare & much more besides" Can anyone think of the correct word to sum up such a system? It's just one word

People just don't understand how influential Keir Starmer has been, behind the scenes, for so very long.

I think a lot of boomers just don't realize how absurdly far the UK has shifted towards communism. The 95th percentile of income for a person is £100,000. That's someone who is exceptionally skilled and hard working, or who got a cushy job somehow. Not even MPs earn that much,
