Make it work. To me, tech should be a means to an end, not an end itself. Your reward as a dev/builder should not be how pretty, fast, or awesome your work is, but rather how it being awesome impacts the business, provides value and serves the user. The best way of doing this.
Some engineering principles I live by:.✓ Make it work, make it right, make it fast.✓ Progressive disclosure of complexity.✓ Minimize the number of concepts & modes.✓ Most 'flukes' aren't… your tech just sucks.✓ Feedback must be given to users instantly.✓ Maximize user.
