Brand new paper with @johnjhorton that I'm very excited to share: "General Social Agents" Suppose we wanted to create AI agents for simulations to make predictions in never-before-seen settings. How might we do this? We explore an approach to answering that question!

Again, I think academics have perhaps not quite groked what this sort of wholesale removal of a model means for replication in science. This isn’t versioned or downloadable, and you won’t be able to recreate it

If you're a researcher and have a bunch of things to label-- text, images, PDFs, docx's etc. EDSL has built-in capabilities that make this *much* easier & more reproducible/shareable. Here's a short clickable demo. I'm happy to help any researcher get this set-up - DM/email me

We are currently building the largest, cross-domain data set of human behavior as part of an open collaborative project. Contributions of any form are welcome, but especially experiments with meta-data from developmental, cross-cultural, or clinical studies.

Are LLMs actually helping us code faster or is it just more fun? To answer this, we created RealHumanEval, a code editor with AI (think LeetCode+AI) designed to run human studies. We evaluated 7 LLMs and found that YES they do but it's not 10x and only for LLMs strong enough!

I write with Google Docs by getting the bad draft out of the way first, while keeping track of things I want to spend more time on (e.g. reword, expand, clarify) through comments. I want a tool that helps me with these refinement steps *within* the comments, not directly on the

Let people play with AI & they will figure out some of what they need to do. This cool experiment found that people naturally adapt their prompting style to more sophisticated AIs, using simpler prompts for DALLE-2, but making them complex as they learned DALLE-3 could do more.

It was a sincere pleasure working on this with such a thoughtful and creative team. Interesting design implication: augmenting user-submitted prompts with LLM-generated detail may be more of a “bug” than a “feature” when users are trying to achieve something very specific 🤔
