Un bon recull de les dificultats de les científiques per contribuir a la ciència que, malauradament, avui encara persisteix.
La figura de Jeanne Baret va quedar oblidada fins a èpoques recents, on noves biografies i estudis han començat a ressaltar el seu coratge i contribucions a la botànica, com ara la descripció de la vinya o la flor Bougainvillea, que va anomenar en honor al capità de l'expedició.
