What a great idea - become a foster carer for just a weekend a month- help change the lives of vulnerable children and help a system under strain. Great piece about @foster_now on World at One.

Great to hear @lucykellaway on @BBCr4today talking about the impact of a gifted teacher on our lives. Her own mother did that for me - the brilliant English teacher Deborah Kellaway @CSG1871 . Lifelong debt to her.

NowTeach is such a brilliant thing, founded by my former FT colleague @lucykellaway. It's absolutely bloody criminal that it's had its funding cut, and I hope a new Labour government reverses that insane decision.

How @NowTeachOrg and @lucykellaway raised the money to keep going with their brilliant work recruiting older professionals into teaching after their Government funding was inexplicably cut

New data shows the number of teachers leaving the profession is nearly the same as those joining - @LucyKellaway commented on the data in the Observer. Another clear sign, if needed, that teacher recruitment and retention remain priorities in education.

Amazing work done by @NowTeachOrg and @lucykellaway over the past 7 years, tackling not only the recruitment crisis but also the rising number of people in their 50s and 60s leaving the workforce. Completely nonsensical to scrap

Young people no longer want to become teachers and older career-switchers are increasingly stepping in to fill the gap. So why is the government cutting funding for a programme that's proven to help? Asks @annamolo_ https://t.co/vjEFbWpWgn

Absolutely bonkers decision by DfE to axe funding for @NowTeachOrg... They helped me navigate my route into teaching, and I love it. I see younger colleagues leaving the profession but, as a close to 50 year-old career changer, I'm sticking at it #NT2025

@lucykellaway I went to a @NowTeachOrg event and was inspired by Lucy and her guest speaker (an Ark academy headteacher). I'm qualified now and plan to stay in teaching. While not officially part of your cohort, I should still be included in your numbers.

.@lucykellaway @BBCr4today on Now Teach's value: "We help ppl who had rich + varied lives consider teaching & apply to training programs. "And we help those career changers stay as teachers too. Because we have a horrendous retention crisis." 6.54 here:
