MultiversX (prev. known as Elrond) is the most advanced form of sharding technology applied to blockchains. Is what ETH 2.0 was supposed to be. Blockchain trilemma solved in 2018.

Sharding is the asymptote of performance. Not 100k TPS, not 1M, not 1B, period. Every non-sharded architecture hits a ceiling. The only path to unbounded throughput is sharding, and nothing else will ever beat it without becoming it. $EGLD is governing this.

The Supernova proposal is live!. The upgrade radically advances block production by reducing the slot time from 6 seconds to 600ms and by shifting to a Propose/Vote-then-Execute consensus model decoupling execution from the critical path. These changes deliver sub-second.
