After a good day on the tools I used to collapse into the sofa with an aching back but a largely quiet mind. I'm in the midst of a couple of weeks of intense PhD thesis writing, & the aching mind and restless body combination is wild (despite getting about 2-3hrs exercise a day!).

As someone who earned money by their hands & the sweat of their brow for the first half of their adult life, nothing prepared me for the strange exhaustion that comes from intense intellectual work like academic writing. It's wild to feel so restless and exhausted simultaneously.

I wrote a poem for the first time in ages to try to express the violence of the everyday in these times. It’s called ‘I Hope This Email Finds You Well’.
