As a wave of nationalist protests are advertised across the nation, I’m reminded of all the people who said we were crazy to think Christo-fascism is on the rise in the UK…. 🀨

I’ve been saying for a while that part of this so-called β€˜quiet revival’ (if it’s actually happening) is likely to be post-imperial melancholia dressed in religious robes.

Really rate this @j_amesmarriott investigation of the so-called Quiet Revival. The fascinating thing about the people that he interviews is that there is so little talk about actually engaging with being challenged by & in a relationship with Jesus Christ as the gospels depict.

The government proscribed Palestine Action in one bill alongside Nazi groups to make sure it passed. Left: police arresting an elderly woman for peacefully holding a sign supporting Palestine action. Right: police ignoring the right wing doing actual Nazi salutes.

In my fundamentalist days I met this man, read his books, and have seen first hand the devastation his theology wreaks on people. Make no mistake, Christo-fascism is on the rise, and it’s here in the uk where Wilson has devotees too. It must be rooted out.

Congrats to all the β€˜it’s complicated’ and β€˜both sides’ people. Well done clowns, you enabled a literal genocide and then wrung your hands in the final phase. We will never forget your cowardice.

After a good day on the tools I used to collapse into the sofa with an aching back but a largely quiet mind. I'm in the midst of a couple of weeks of intense PhD thesis writing, & the aching mind and restless body combination is wild (despite getting about 2-3hrs exercise a day!).

As someone who earned money by their hands & the sweat of their brow for the first half of their adult life, nothing prepared me for the strange exhaustion that comes from intense intellectual work like academic writing. It's wild to feel so restless and exhausted simultaneously.

This is what our politicians in the UK are allowing, our military are supporting, our manufacturers are arming. And they want to tell us that supporters of Palestine Action are the terrorists. Shame on us for allowing this, 'a stain on humanity, which will endure for generations'.

Interesting critique of the so-called β€˜quiet revival’ being proclaimed - it always seems like wishful thinking to me, and this seems to be statistically the case. I hope the Bible Society release the data to enable further scrutiny.

An excellent and well-reasoned article. To talk about class means to talk about material things, enough of the nonsense spouted by those in the church who claim to speak on behalf of the working class!!!.

I am very glad to read this and agree with it in its entirety. I thought that the comments of both Ian Paul and the Bishop of Blackburn were distasteful and insulting, and I’m grateful to Adam Spiers for so clearly laying out why.
