the UK is like Nickelback. everyone says it's shit (even the people that live here). but the truth is it's just pretty average. maybe even good in some parts. I've been bootstrapping content businesses here full-time for the last 8 years, obv people like @iannuttall doing pretty.
UK impossible to bootstrap. Too expensive. That's why you fly out, live somewhere cheap, build a startup, get rich and then optionally return.

I've worked with many thumbnail designers. Only one or two truly "get it". It's not about design. It's about psychology. with design skills. I can only really handle the former - concepts and ideas, good enough to get clicks, but not 10/10 execution. Most can only do the.
Many tech types proudly demonstrate near zero understanding of media. Thumbnail artists is an actual class of graphic designer - not a huge market, but we employ one on our team and he's incredibly valuable. Swapping him with AI would be idiotic. Source: my billions of views.

Seems like we stopped getting featured in AI Overviews. even on 100% branded terms. We'll occasionally get our brand name mentioned but without a link and even this is rare + very forced. anyone been removed from AI overviews and then got back in?.
Google has control of me. It doesn't matter how many times I suffer. I will still keep coming back for more

@levelsio My sister tries to not use ChatGPT too much because it uses 20x more energy than Googling. This propaganda needs to stop.

Is this true?. My fairly shit UK school was big on business stuff, I did Young Enterprise and I'm pretty sure every other high school in my town offered that too. While my PE teacher ended up being a convicted pedo I can't criticise the place re: business/capitalism?.
@psychomaxxing I mean most schools will teach to hate capitalism, entrepreneurship and in particular Elon Musk.

On second thoughts I think the niche site crowd should move into using AI agents to publish to lots of platforms at scale. This is a better fit for skills, work setup, laziness, etc.
For anyone still interested in the niche site/blogging space: I promise there is still potential there, but you have to completely change what you're doing. Creating things that people are searching for is no longer reliable. The Google game is dead. The trick you need to figure.
