Yesterday was an exciting day...I submitted my research thesis investigating people’s views and usage of straws, and thoughts on the #StrawBan. A big thank you to my supervisors @BronwynHemsley and Brad Murray; I wouldn’t be here without you. 🎉 #SLP2B

I just finished presenting my findings into people's views and use of plastic straws at the #GoSHSpeechSEER. I have never presented at an event like this before, so it was an exciting (and nerve-wracking) experience. Thanks @GoSHspeech and @BronwynHemsley for this opportunity!

"...So if you have to use a straw and you want to reduce your environmental impact, consider carrying a reusable, stainless steel one next time"...Another article about the #StrawBan that doesn't consider the needs of people with dysphagia or other disabilities.

I have a very long drive to get to placement so have been passing the time by listening to a Harry Potter audiobook narrated by Stephen Fry....thanks to @CathGregorySP’s Voice classes, I now think about whether he had enough vocal rest while recording the audiobook! 🤦🏼♀️

Great video from @DeltaGoodrem highlighting how debilitating loss of voice and loss of communication can be (especially if your livelihood depends on it!).
‘Delta Goodrem reveals secret health battle that left her paralysed’. After months of rehabilitation with daily speech therapy, Delta Goodrem was finally able to get her voice back. She shares her story via video. #WeSpeechies #SLPeeps #voice

Just like teachers, #slpeeps need to be aware of Australian Aboriginal English as a recognised dialect in Australia. Makes a difference in our appropriate assessment and treatment of #language #DevLangDis. Shouldn't just be assessing in Standard Australian English
