For anyone mad at me for noticing this, can you articulate why? This observation seems comically anodyne, so I don't quite get it. If anything, it's strange that literally no one else even bothered to look for nearly a year. But I'm old-school, I like to research and read.

As the owner of a half-dozen-ish IP/trademarks, I know filing can be slow, especially post-pandemic. But it's strange this change isn't yet reflected anywhere outside Japan. Ownership changes should file quickly. Anyway, just thought it was interesting and figured I'd share.

Last year, Kojima Productions announced it acquired the Death Stranding IP from Sony. But in researching for Sacred Symbols, I stumbled upon something peculiar: That change is only reflected in Japan¹. Everywhere else -- US², EU³, UK⁴, AU⁵, etc.⁶ -- Sony retains the rights.

It really doesn't take a super genius to understand why Sony is desperate to find success in games-as-a-service (and why they'd be smart to continue down that path). There isn't a grouping of single player games in existence that could drive this level of revenue. Sad, but true.

@longislandviper @Splitgate Colin, you can't be this hypocritical. You guys always say keep real-world politics out of the video game industry. But whenever a dev starts being political, you defend their MAGA takes and bring them on sacred symbols+ to muse about how brave they are for being political.
