This was the most striking line in the entire movie to me. Like oh my god yeah this is some shit my mom would do

When his mom was faking being sick for attention I was like holy shit Marty is me

His mother and uncle sabotage his trip to Tokyo because his mother has no support (she won't work) and the uncle doesn't want to keep helping her. Marty is surrounded by people who are themselves conmen and hustlers. I sympathize with his plight to get out of NYC's slum.

Idk, I kinda laughed my ass off silently in the theater when Marty said Rachel's lie reminds him of something his mom would do. His mother may be the reason why he's the way he is honestly. Sure, Marty's an unlikeable character but I sympathize with him too.
