I think relatively few career politicians truly understand business — why it's important, how it works, the principles behind it, why pressures like regulation can be positively important, the reasons people are drawn by it, and the need for a broad ecosystem.

I also wish it was a priority for every lawmaker to respect and protect our freedom to be our own bosses. We shouldn’t have to fight our own government to hang out a shingle and go into business for ourselves. #FreelanceBusting is just plain wrong.

New from me: I was stunned to hear @KamalaHarris say in an interview, “Nobody can start a small business with $5,000.” Of course you can. Independent contractors need lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who understand us and support us. https://t.co/WYZPN6KYSy
