Me: Wonderful.
Him: Yeah, it's good news.
And then we went on with our day because we're not assholes.
The guys who jumped on the subway tracks & saved a blind man who fell. The woman who gave a stranger cash when he didn't have enough money for his groceries. The child who donated his allowance to a new Canadian family. That's my Canada.

I heard from several male former radio colleagues on the weekend, asking whether they had behaved well when we worked together. The ones who behave badly never question themselves.

I can't believe how many times I've thought about calling or emailing my mom, or remembering something to tell her later. This will never entirely go away, will it?

So, my
#mom
is in the hospital now, waiting for a hospice bed. This two year odyssey of hers was on the down low at her request. She was diagnosed just weeks after I quit full time radio, so I've been able to be with her through it all. 💔

I always find it amusing when someone young dismisses someone with experience, like me. 1. They'll get here quicker than they imagine and 2. Getting older is the damn goal in life anyway! 😊
We are shocked and heartbroken after saying goodbye to Miss Sugar today. Thank you to everyone who ever read her blog or admired her sweet little feline form. She gave us so much love. We were lucky to have found her. 💔

Please, let's not let Don Cherry's comments turn us into poppy snobs if we do see someone without a poppy. Maybe they just lost their poppy. Maybe they're having a bad day and forgot. Don't assume they don't care. Offer an extra one.

For the first time since my Mom died, I thought of her and smiled instead of cried. I spilled some water on the floor. She would always say, "well, now there's a clean spot"!

My mom always appreciated getting gifts but so many of them are unused and still in the box. The best gift to give your mom is your time. One day, time will run out and nothing else will matter. Call your mother.

Last night I slept on the couch in mom's room

I don't have the energy for outrage. It's not that I don't care - I care deeply. But I'm tapped. Empty. No reserves. And I don't think I'm alone.

I didn't think an in-studio shot of me in Red Deer existed anymore but of course, my Mom kept one. My first full-time radio gig at CKGY-AM. Country, overnights. The year: 1858.

Didn't get a

This brought me to tears. Reminding me of so many times in 30+ years of radio when I made myself small so I wouldn't be seen as a "problem". Gaslighted over being insulted or yelled at. Thank you,

Lately when I see Mom, she asks me to do something she "forgot to do before I die". Even in hospice, she's worrying about other people, like Moms do. All I can do is what she asks & try to reassure her. 😢

Today, we grieve the loss of Mississauga’s matriarch, Hazel McCallion, a fierce and passionate leader who touched the lives of so many. She lived a life of service before self - everything she did was for the betterment of our City. My deepest condolences to the McCallion family.
