I've been dreading this day. I'll never forget the video clip of a crowd lifting Anas into the air the night the ceasefire was announced, and how happy he looked. The journalists working in Gaza are the very best of our profession.

The "democracy vs autocracy" frame is for people with a childlike view of politics and is contaminated by association w/ Biden. It's also totally meaningless when "democracies" are arresting people for holding signs & writing op-eds critical of Israel
Many of us are looking for a positive message from the left (the democrats in the US, the center left in Europe) to win the coming elections. My two cents: Now that autocracy has shown more and more clearly its true nature, its barbarity, its randomness, make the next elections.
