May version. 🚇🚆 Tidied up the Tyne Valley line stations, and removed the ‘check for opening date’ asterisk from Newsham.

‘Stepney Western’ at Byker Station, created by local filmmaker Harry Lawson. The mural re-imagines the past & present of East Newcastle through its Western-inspired design. https://t.co/Fal7no9LcR

It’s always when I’m climbing Stepney Bank, having eaten too many delicious things in the Ouseburn, that I really wish this imagining of an Ouseburn Station had been realised. 😅
Wouldn’t that be awesome! ‘An imagining of how a Metro Station could be realised in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley’, by Miller Partnership Architects: https://t.co/SEN6t7dv9x

Almost 17000 government staff who are relocating to Newcastle City Centre have been asked for their views on their travel plans. DWP in Longbenton & HMRC at Longbenton & Washington will relocate to Pilgrim Place & Pilgrim’s Quarter by 2027. 🚶🏻🚴🏾♀️🚇🚊🚍🚖🚘 https://t.co/rka5vUOqga

The improvements to Grey St are great but should’ve gone further and made the whole street pedestrianised bar access for deliveries and emergency vehicles - it is achieved on the continent so why not here? The next step I hope.
Last job for Friday- tweaking an image of the greatest street in the greatest city for a last minute magazine feature request. Captured early doors before it gets rammed with & ruined by white vans parked here there & everywhere. Job done. Time for bed.

@bandkbuild @bandkphoto @Ryder1953 The pavements surrounding Pilgrim’s Quarter should be finished and open from around mid December I’m informed.

I do like how the proposed redevelopment of Percy House will create a new wide pedestrian thoroughfare between Strawberry Lane & Percy Street. Especially handy during events & match days. https://t.co/dA3lpLiS6p

THIS! Not only is a unified bus fleet simpler & therefore more attractive for people to use, it can make our towns & cities appear neater. I’m not a fan of our current array of multicoloured buses & route names. It’s jarring, confusing & makes the network appear VERY fragmented.
In Manchester and hadn’t appreciated how something so simple - making all buses yellow - can really improve public space. Feels neater

Still wishing we had those bus priority measures on the Redheugh approach… 🚌 ⏰😣

What caught my eye in the vision docs was the suggestion of a NEW BRIDGE, seemingly at the old Redheugh Bridge abutments, spanning from Forth Yards to Clasper Village where new housing is also planned. This would encourage more walking & cycling, as the current Redheugh does not.

For too long Britain's failed to build the local transport that its towns & cities need to thrive. Would you like to change that? The Tram Network is a mission we're incubating with @cbtransport to streamline planning, reduce costs &speed up design &delivery of new trams in UK...

The mere half mile of electrification required at Morpeth siding to enable EMUs to run Newcastle to Morpeth, improving & decarbonising that service? 🤞

Lack of tram/Metro line aside, it’s extremely positive to read Forth Yards will be a sustainable urban community where pedestrian & cycle movement will be prioritised over private vehicles. Low levels of car ownership will be encouraged & a bus route will run through the centre.

Well it’s going to be fun trying to get off this. Single-doored buses are awful on busy routes.
