Side note this is so cute because it looks like Sizhui can’t help how excited he is to see Jin Ling and walks ahead, and Jin Ling also finds himself running. Maybe one day he stops squirming and melts into Sizhui’s hug, dropping his head to Sizhui’s shoulder and hugging him back.

Sizhui hugging Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji at the end means so much because hugs probably aren’t common in the Lan sect. After that, Sizhui gets more comfortable giving hugs. He even runs up to hug Jin Ling whenever he sees him, and Jin Ling, unused to it, squirms like a feral cat.

/End. Thought I ought to post something for Jingyi's birthday, and zhenyi is my other beloved ship (could not resist a sprinkle of zhuiling). Happy birthday, Jingyi!🩵.

"You gotta pay the Jingyi tax," Jingyi says when Zizhen next visits him. Zizhen gives a theatrical sigh. "What’s the rate?". Jingyi taps his cheek. "Two kisses.". "Inflation. The economy's collapsing under your tyranny.". "Cry harder. Now do it before I charge a late fee.".

Zizhen's dad eventually finds out and confronts them. "You only want to marry him for his money!" Sect Leader Ouyang yells. "No," Jingyi clings to Zizhen's arm, smug. Lans did not lie. "I want to marry him for your money.". Zizhen snickers. Sect Leader Ouyang coughs up blood.

And being a Lan, he's always eager to scold others over Lan rules. One day, Zizhen is in Gusu trying to buy alcohol his dad asked for. Jingyi tsks. “You’re in Gusu. Do not spend frivolously. Honour the good people. Is your dad good? No? Thought so. I am though, so gimme that.".

Jingyi, with the Lan possessiveness in his blood, also doesn’t like to share. Once, he sees Zizhen lend money to a disciple, and gets all prickly about it. "I thought I was your investment," he hisses with the ire of a scorned maiden. "How dare you diversify your portfolio?".

Zizhen gives him the money. Jingyi distributes it for training materials and better robes for the Baling Ouyang disciples, and takes a chunk of commission to buy himself some boots. "For my divine feet," Jingyi smirks, showing them off. "You do have divine feet," Zizhen says.

One day, Zizhen's poring over the Ouyang sect ledgers at his desk. His dad wants to do this and that with the money. Jingyi, sitting on his lap, takes one look at the proposed budget and goes, “Hmm, that's kinda fucked up though, you should just give the money to me instead.".

Wei Wuxian teases Jingyi about it when he finds out. He says that’s why he delegates all the household finances to Hanguang-jun, Lans are just better at it. “Who do you think helped our little Sect Leader Jin weed out money laundering schemes in Lanling?” he says, laughing.

Zizhen's money pouch ends up completely in Jingyi's hands. If he wants to spend money, he has to ask Jingyi for permission. And Jingyi, as a Lan, is actually pretty good at keeping records of things, so it kind of works out better for Zizhen to hand him all the control.

And the thing is, Zizhen, the little sap he is, buys those of his own volition, saying he thinks they'll look nice on Jingyi, or that they remind Zizhen of him. Jingyi graciously accepts and thinks he's really lucky to have a partner in crime so committed to the bit.

On night hunts, Jingyi can finally eat to his heart's content. He even starts wearing all the little trinkets and accessories Zizhen buys him, in his hair and on his robes. And the Lan elders can't say anything. He's allowed to wear such things if they are courting gifts!.

Jingyi clears his throat nervously, trying to sound commanding. "Hand over your pouch… I require tribute.". Zizhen instantly hands it over, grinning. "What do you desire, Lan-gongzi? Jewels? Silks?". Jingyi glances at the stall in front of them. "Tanghulu. Extra large.".

To Zizhen, it's endearing. Jingyi asking for spoiling gives him an outlet for his romantic tendencies. Besides, Jingyi's "domination" is over Zizhen buying him candy or novelty incense. The gap between such trivial purchases and the dramatic power ritual is kinda fun to them.
