NHS workforce planning of course always ignores this important understanding.
@lennycornwall An evolutionary approach to the question of continuity of care puts this on a firm scientific footing. Humans are an ultrasocial species that forms bonds with others that have profound immunological hormonal & neurobiological effects. Informational continuity has no such effects.

I absolutely get the frustration many pts feel about having to repeat their 'story'. What initiatives like this ignore is that The Story is THE cornerstone of any clinical encounter. Before I see any pt I have formed a preliminary opinion based on the EPR.1/

Absolutely right.
I think the frustration is borne of a longing for continuity of care and a genuine relationship with clinicians. But all the studies show that informational continuity is a very poor substitute for relational continuity. I will be continuing to ask pts about what's going on.

This is an issue for @TheBJPsych. House style is to replace the word ‘sex’ with ‘gender’ which confuses readers as to whether authors are referring to biology or identity.
The Sullivan Review part 2: 'Barriers to research on sex and gender' was published today.

Tom Dolphin has been has been an effective leader in the BMA for many years, so I’m not surprised he has been elected Chair of Council. But his role in the attempt to undermine the Cass Review means he will not have the confidence of most BMA members.

This was an excellent training experience for me. Bizarrely my employer has not recognised this as prior learning to replace our local e-learning on autism. So for now I remain non-compliant for mandatory training on ESR.

I’m serious about this, but I’m too old to be a candidate myself. If you want to be part of a campaign for regime change in the BMA please DM me.
Next year are the elections for BMA council. I’ll be voting for candidates who want the union to stop posturing & to focus on supporting better terms & conditions for members. Anyone with me?.
