@lisascottbcd We support quality research productivity, but this document appears to incentivize the opposite.

@effatma @AllenNeuroLab Serious question. Where will the funds to cover the difference between @NIH fellowship and training stipend levels and local stipends levels come from? Our understanding is this cannot legally come from other federal sources dollars or offsets with federal dollars. Is this right?

How much does a graduate student cost per year in your program? I'm putting together a list of how much graduate students cost departments/faculty at different universities. Please contribute to the attached google sheet and please RT! Thanks! https://t.co/iz6rB1fDZY

@ajshackman @PessoaBrain I think this is exactly right. NIH is not set up to fund cross-species work. Proposals that include more than one species has been nearly all “ND” that I’ve seen in study section or as lead investigator. R1 dislikes one species, R2 the other, and R3 their linkages. Triageland.

Why small mindedness is having big consequences @Brain1878 I live under its shadow. I suspect most of you do too. It is the great mountain of small things. The higher it gets, the bigger the shadow it casts: a malignant darkness that pervades our lives. https://t.co/tgA8uCdrtH

A publication from @AllenNeuroLab et al., at @FIU discusses the underutilization of pigs in behavioral neuroscience despite their potential as a translational model. Pigs offer advantages such as similarities to humans in brain anatomy and physiology.
