Itās a cliche, I know, but he was my shadow. I adopted Oscar as a kitten in January 2008 because, frankly, I didnāt think anyone else would. He was the last of his litter and clinging to the door of the kennel when I passed by ā almost like he was begging to be adopted. So I did.

Just got off a coordinating call with law enforcement, MDOT, MEMA, and National Guard leadership. Assets have been swarmedāfrom drones to first responders to wreckersāin order to clear the stalled vehicles in North Mississippi on I-55 and assist those stranded on the road.

This compilation of video angles makes a prima facie case that the two agents who shot Pretti should go to jail for a long time. Iāll await the investigation and trial. But if thereās no trial and no real investigation, Iāll go with the video evidence.

A frame-by-frame assessment of actions by Alex Pretti and the two officers who fired 10 times shows how lethal force came to be used against a man who didnāt pose a threat.

We did a focus group last night of swing votersāBiden 2020/Trump 2024āand there is not simply awareness of the Alex Pretti killing, but genuine outrage. Many wanted Noem removed.

Local police routinely, put officers involved in deadly shootings on administrative leave until an independent investigation is concluded.Ā That should happen immediately. I canāt recall ever hearing a police chief immediately describing the victim as a ādomestic terroristā or a

On a Washington Post online chat with readers today, the first question was about what's ahead for our beloved newspaper. Here's my answer, which the Post published online: I can't confirm the rumors because I don't know what management is planning. But as a 40-year veteran of

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a tactical success into a major victory.

This is incredibly chilling but very much worth reading.

Itās some kind of a shame that it took two tragic street killings of US citizens captured on video for members of the Republican Party to finally find the courage to admit this was a terribly incompetent and dangerous way to enforce immigration law. Glad they made it, but still..

I almost appreciate how Trump has exposed how vacant every single high profile conservative belief was: free speech, statesā rights, letting the market decide, NATO, right to bear arms, democracy, all of it. Itās been an empty, malicious political project for decades and decades
āFor months, radical progressive politicians like Tim Walz have incited violence against law enforcement officers who are simply trying to do their jobs. Unsurprisingly, these calls to dangerously interject oneself into legitimate law-enforcement activities have ended in
