This is what ophthalmologists do every day yet our skills and caring are devalued by the government with declining Medicare reimbursements every single year. Half of ophthalmologists are over age 55 and many are retiring early due to the frustrations of being unappreciated.
Last week I did cataract surgery on a patient who went from only sensing light to 20/25 on post op day 1 Prior to surgery she had become depressed due to lack of vision “No cars, clothes or gifts could mean more than this” Ophthalmology is the greatest field in medicine

The Medicare physician payment system is flawed and outdated and reform is long overdue. It's time to #FixMedicareNow. Learn more about the history, what the AMA is doing about it, and how you can take action:
"Adjusted for inflation, physician payment under Medicare has dropped 26% since 2001...far greater than the rates at inpatient or outpatient hospitals, or at nursing facilities. With more cuts planned next year." -@DoctorJesseMD at #AMAmtg
