David Delfiner and Lisa Parsons received a shocking letter from their health insurance provider when they checked their mail last week. Their monthly health insurance cost will increase from $350 a month this year to $2,221 starting in 2026.

State regulators estimate premiums will nearly double on average for the nearly 2 million people who buy health care coverage through the state’s marketplace, while some Californians are seeing more drastic price jumps.

After devastating health care cuts, costs will likely go up for 20 million Americans who buy ACA insurance. One Californian in Nevada County learned her insurance costs will rise to $1,965/month from $865, between rising premiums and expiring subsidies.
