Very depressing that Fonterra plans to sell off well-known consumer brands. If they go into foreign ownership, that has adverse implications for #NZโs balance of payments. Companyโs vision seems limited to being an efficient commodity producer.

Our results imply a SCC of $1,056 per ton of carbon dioxide vs. $151/tCO2 when we estimate the model on local temperature shocks. A business-as-usual warming scenario leads to a present value welfare loss of 31%. Both are multiple orders of magnitude above previous estimates.

In 2024, Calgary, the city where Seymour was claiming in 2010 that public transport would never work, has a light rail network with the 2nd-highest ridership in North America (it runs on wind-generated electricity) and the most extensive walk-and-cycle network on the continent.
Here's a Canadian-accented David Seymour arguing against funding public transport on behalf of Atlas Network partner & climate change denialists, Frontier Centre for Public Policy.

Someone asked me, "if many people are gradually developing long COVID, wouldn't we see it in the economic data?" Yes, we would. And in fact we are. A few recent examples:

Tonight, our hearts are in Bethlehem, where the Prince of Peace is once more rejected by the futile logic of war, by the clash of arms that even today prevents him from finding room in the world. #Christmas

Great explanation to why it takes time to get the final election results, as well as a good reminder that we (rightly) make voting as easy as it can be, because democracy is about the people. And there are appropriate checka to ensure everything has been done properly.
@Mihi_Forbes I started to prepare a quick answer for this but it took longer than a couple of tweets, so it's attached as a couple of pics instead :-)
