Complicated certainly sums up Bob Knight. But was also one of the most successful coaches his sport ever had and why IU basketball became what it is.
This moment still remains 1 of 1
After the game, Sam could be seen with a blue state championship medal around his neck. That is what he means to Memorial and others in the community.
The feeling is mutual: “That’s really what keeps him going.”
The career of Jackie Young:
IHSAA state champion
Indiana all-time leading scorer
NCAA champion
No. 1 overall pick
Olympic gold medal
WNBA All-Star/Most Improved Player
Now add WNBA champion
Colson Montgomery also named the Male Athlete of the Year at the Indiana High School Sports Awards. And yes, that’s Shaquille O’Neal presenting the award.

It’s been quite the scene at Boonville this evening. A packed Mike Wilson Field - including a few softball teams from the area - in honor of Ashton Pryor. Lots of emotions in that infield.
A unified basketball game prior to Bosse-North tonight. Bosse players celebrate every basket like this. Guarantee it meant something for those on the court.
Gibson Southern quarterback Brady Allen is the Indiana Mr. Football award winner. He is only the second from Southwest Indiana to win it.
“It’s something you dream of. You want your name beside the greats.”
Jackie Young with a career-high 32 points and 11 rebounds for Notre Dame in an 91-89 OT win over UConn in the Final Four. The Princeton star will play for a national title Sunday.
What’s being lost in the Bosse uniform thing is that I’m guessing Boonville must have offered to lend its road jerseys, otherwise I don’t think Bosse could have played.
Sportsmanship from one school to another.
The EVSC has announced, through a partnership with ETFCU, that all winter athletic events (girls/boys basketball, wrestling) played at their gyms will be live streamed this season.
No cost to EVSC or viewers
The first event I covered in Evansville was the SIAC track meet. One of the first coaches I interviewed was Fred Bracher. He could not have been more helpful to a someone speaking to new people. All thoughts to his family and Castle.
Memorial was guaranteed to have one champion this weekend: Sam Schulz.
No matter how he's feeling – and it's been hard the past two months – the Memorial family and
@rmhsfootball
has been there to give him strength.
This will surely brighten your day. Remember that yesterday was Sam Schulz’s 16th birthday?
Well the Memorial student, who suffers from EB, received a birthday video from famous athletes wishing him luck.
Among them: Gretzky, Phelps, Dungy. Watch it👇.
Reitz senior Camden Hancock suffered a seizure while driving Wednesday and was later diagnosed with a brain tumor. The
@BaseballFJReitz
team and surrounding baseball community has since rallied behind him.
Update: spent the past two days in the hospital for a kidney stone. They said it’s decent size, too. Feeling better but won’t see me at a game for a few days (at least) because another visit is needed.
Guess I’ll actually have to take a day off
Before the game, Reitz and Central honors Deputy Bryan Hicks who returned home this month from therapy after being shot in the line of duty in September.
Both teams wearing special uniforms and many fans bought shirts. Hicks’ father, Keith, is the Reitz bookkeeper.
Just over three months ago, Jackson Dassel suffered a traumatic brain injury after a car accident. Should probably still be in the hospital.
But he's not. He's at home and acting close to his old self. How quickly he recovered is nothing short of amazing.
They told stories of the fireball with a giant personality but an even bigger heart. A softball star who was loved because she gave love back.
This was Ashton Pryor. Someone Boonville and others won’t forget.
The SIAC announces its Outstanding Athletes of the Year for the Class of 2021

Two state championship appearances. Twenty two straight victories.
Despite the loss, this
@MemAthletics
group will be talked about for years to come. Because they will have inspired the next generation of Tigers to be great.
Your weekly Devin Mockobee appreciation tweet. Unofficially had 423 yards and 5 touchdowns tonight.
Season update: the Navy commit now has 1,013 yards and 14 touchdowns in 4 games.

Tonight is EB awareness on behalf on the Schulz family. Both Sophie and Sam suffer from the disease.
The crowd was told that $15,000 was raised this year at the EB Walk in October.
"Evansville" was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter tonight. It certainly had plenty to say about UE's upset over Kentucky.
Will add more as it continues to pile in. My Tweetdeck can't keep up.
