Postcards are delightful, film cameras have a useful aesthetic, vinyl records are popular again. Also I think we should bring back phone books and paper maps, it’s bad for society that we forgot how to talk to people and read directions.

Sometimes hard not to feel about 2020 the way Hunter S. Thompson felt about the end of the sixties.
This is just what I can’t get over right now in DSA and the American left. Four years ago we had a unified, radical vision for defunding the police. An urgent, revolutionary ask that centers the experiences of Black Americans. And now it’s just completely gone.

It’s been obvious for years that the Democratic ecosystem (especially associated NGOs) are paying off content creators and even activists, to different ends. Even people who criticize Democrats a lot but then push voting for the “lesser evil” are a valuable investment for them.

people fundamentally misunderstand the roots of these statements—it is not that he is not really cadre, or that he is moving away or being coopted, it’s that he’s following the logic of a political strategy that subordinates everything to getting votes and passing legislation.
