The bullying @clegoues faced would have sent me running. I’m glad she’s speaking about this now, and especially that she’s still here.
Wrapping up. First, just because I (or anyone else) didn't quit in the face of professional bullying doesn't retroactively mean it wasn't bullying. It was, even though I'm still here. I was born stubborn. Science would be better if you didn't have to be born stubborn to stay. 7/.

Yesterday @heckman_sarah and I got to watch the new Dr. Kai Presler-Marshall successfully defend his dissertation. It was a joyful day with an entirely in-person doctoral committee! Congratulations Kai, @BowdoinCollege is lucky to have you!

Mine is 0.618, does that mean I need to spend *more* time on Twitter?.
What's your Kardashian Index? . Mine is 4.1 so I guess I don't have to quit Twitter just yet. (From @AndreasZeller New Faculty Symposium talk)

Hey #AcademicTwitter, what is the best practice for citing/listing papers under review on academic job application materials, while honoring the double-blind review process? We don't want to unblind ourselves, but want to show progress. Asking for a PhD student (actually, two).

Depends on what you mean by “not work out.” My dissertation used SMT for code search by input/output example, modeling code semantics in first order logic. Had fun with symbolic execution. It led to papers and grants. But does it scale? Not yet!.

Shoutout to @onepeloton for outstanding customer service. The screw hole on my cycling shoes is stripped, and they're replacing the shoes for free! This is above and beyond for shoes that have been used for the past 19 months.

A takeaway for me is the understanding that research assessing whether or not PRs/patches are merged is human subjects research. I've seen papers use "% of PRs merged" as a success metric, and pretty sure the IRB has not been involved. This is a well-rounded summary.
My perspective on "Linux vs. Lu & Wu 2021", including:.- a look at what happened.- discussing what "human-subjects research" means in cybersecurity.- recommendations for the researchers and the research community.

The last time something like this happened was in 2015 when I found myself shaking hands with @BernieSanders at a farmer's market.
