This was last night in Noida, the situation is insane. Someone needs to take responsibility for this and do something about it Fun fact: The air purifier was stuck at 500 for a long time and my mom thought it was broken. It wasn't, had to use two of these to get the number down

One thing is clear friends. Whatever else you do or do not do in life, make sure you have people who have your back. They can be friends, they can be family, they can be twitter mutuals. But you need extraordinary resilience and even greater relationships to make it through.

Is there a better path? I suppose it is all metaphysical. And it depends. On whether we think we have agency. Can we make a cancer patient survive longer? Could we have prevented a massive heart attack? Or we are just riding along, children in cars with toy steering wheels?

It’s so strange really. When my father died, suddenly and far away, I felt like he was cheated out of the miracles of modern medicine. No CT scans, no MRIs, no intravenous fluids to extend his short life. Like he (and all of us) had pulled the short straw of life.

There are many challenging things about it, but absolutely nobody prepares for one of the worst things about hospitals - just endless waiting without context.

Map Mania - I found these two beautiful maps of Malaya and Singapore (and their railways) from 1963 at the Bukit Timah Rail Corridor. I must have spent a half hour craning my neck taking it all in. It really made my day, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
