A huge S/O to @meijer for notifying us this morning they could begin vaccinating our @SCMSchools employees under the federal government’s plan to prioritize teachers. Many were able to get their first vaccination today and I’m confident there will be many more in the coming days.

If one of the primary drivers of [re]opening schools is the mental health and wellbeing of students, educators should be classified healthcare workers and prioritized in @StateHealthIN’s vaccine eligibility. @GovHolcomb #VaccinateTeachers #InoculationforEducators

For nearly a year, teachers have put their lives at risk to ensure Hoosier kids receive a quality education during the pandemic–all while being told they would be prioritized when the moment came for a vaccine. As essential workers, educators must be prioritized for the vaccine.

I'm proud of our efforts to protect our @SCMSchools staff & students. However, teachers should be prioritized on the @StateHealthIN's vaccination plan, even if it's as the first group following their plan to vaccinate by age groups. https://t.co/XbB4qfkWbP via @SBTribune

As Indiana prepares to roll out its first rapid COVID-19 antigen tests in schools, one St. Joseph County district is nearly two months into offering quick-result testing to its teachers and staff.

Thankful for our @SCMSchools leaders. We are working today to improve the systems in place to enhance student success. We will not accept the pandemic as an excuse for students to fall through the cracks. #TheMishawakaWay

I’m hearing from many parents about how teachers are performing heroically in difficult and scary times to provide comfort, humor, empathy, and instruction. Teachers are always superheroes. Now they seem to have even another gear of awesomeness. They are the best of #WhatUnitesUs

Sch’s Q: (1) will we administer spring state mandated tests to kids? (2) what kids have to participate?(3) how will we do this for kids on various platforms (remote/in-person)?, (4) what if opt-out is really high? & (5) will the tests count? It’s the 45M dollar question.
