The biggest, most clear sign of the sentiment in this tweet is during A2 WOW when Neytiri proudly announced him as Toruk Makto to the Metkayina, just look at how Jake reacts. He recoils in (Disgust? Disapproval? Shame? Embarrassment?) and immediately tries to downplay himself.
I think the biggest thing that causes people to misunderstand and mischaracterize Jake is that they donโt understand that at his core, he hates himself. Itโs his driving force. Heโs not the classic confident hero. Heโs traumatized, terrified, and full of self-loathing.
