For example, a practical solution to the shortage of anesthesiologists is for government to advance funding to hospitals to hire anesthesiology assistants. This will result in a decrease in surgical wait times.

Ontario's doctors have the solutions to fix the issues in the health-care system, and we’re calling on all parties and voters to prioritize health care this election.

Last Friday’s debate saw leaders discussing many issues including health care – the health portion was devoted mostly to family medicine and the need to ensure everyone has access to care. And during this past Monday’s debate, a health-care question was the first out of the gate.

With Ontario’s election less than a week away, it’s clear that health care has risen as a top election issue, amid the threat of tariffs and other ongoing turbulence. The recent debates confirmed it:

Ontario’s doctors are asking all Party Leaders to prioritize patient care. 2.5M Ontarians lack a family doctor—soon 4M. EDs are closing due to doctor shortages. Wait times are among the worst globally. @fordnation @BonnieCrombie @MikeSchreiner @MaritStiles — What’s your plan?

This means not only recruiting and training more physicians, but supporting and retaining the ones we have who are struggling under the strain of growing demand. Our doctors are doing heroes' work but they need relief now. (2/2)
