Today is the 1st day of school and my dad’s 70th bday. He emigrated from Panama when he was a child. At 20 he enlisted, married his Ayer High school sweetheart, and left for Vietnam. He taught me what it means to have #grit which I’ll certainly need this year as an #educator

As parents, we want things to come easily for our kids, but I promise you that that is not the most important measure of success. I tell my own kids, “I don’t care about your grades or if you win. I care about your work ethic.”
